First Annual meeting of the UK-RF CNCPTitleObninsk Seminar - First Annual meeting of the UK-RF Closed Nuclear Cities Partnership Programme (CNCP).Objectives
Summary
Mr. Vincent introduced PE International as the Programme's implementing contractor. UK participants made presentations outlining their proposed structure for a joint initiative to promote job creation and sustainable economic development in selected Closed Nuclear Cities. The representative from FAAE made a presentation giving a broad overview of FAAE/MinAtom's conversion strategy and identifying the areas where they thought collaboration would be the most beneficial. Presentations were also made by each of the Russian Closed Cities' participants. These presentations included overviews of the employment status of scientists and technicians, their primary skill sets, projected redundancies, technologies under development viewed as having commercial potential, and a description of the areas they are looking for assistance and/or collaboration. By the end of the meeting, the UK and RF participants agreed in principal on the CNCP concept and identified first steps, which later lead to:
