Summary

The four week training programme was designed by De Montfort University's Department of Modern Languages and involved staff from the Business School. The course was aimed at participants who already possessed English at an intermediate level and were employed in decision making roles in the weapons complex or SMEs in the Closed Nuclear Cities. The training drew from a wide range of teaching methods including group work, role playing, language laboratory activities, Internet research, self-study and student presentations. Some of the courses held during the four weeks included: commercial correspondence development, information analysis and presentations, role-playing and management strategies, building cross-cultural skills for meetings and negotiations, and marketing ethics.
