Title

Technology Roadshow.

Objectives

  • Showcase capabilities and a number of technologies from five Closed Nuclear Cities at three locations in the UK.
  • Provide representatives of these Closed Cities with the opportunity to meet and develop contacts that may lead to potential investment, sales, distribution or technical partnerships with UK organisations.
  • To identify possible new CNCP grant support projects that would reduce the up-front business risk of establishing UK-Russia Closed City technology commercialisation partnerships.

In advance of the UK visit, CNCP team members met with selected representatives from the Closed Cities in Moscow to assist each delegation member prepare a 20 minute presentation about his city, what technologies they are developing and what support they are looking for. In addition, coaching on presentation and negotiation skills were also provided. Presentations and promotional literature were then developed that concisely highlighted the various offers the Closed City representatives wished to make to potential British partners during the Roadshow.

The Roadshow was designed to allow for a wide variety of partnering meetings to take place throughout the UK. Roadshow partnering events were held at the Culham Science Centre in Oxfordshire (South East) and the PERA Innovation Centre in Melton Mowbray (East Midlands). The group also attended the Intertech Trade Show in Durham (North East) and held partnering meetings with a variety of companies exhibiting in the show. A total of 69 partnering meetings took place at the three events. Out of those meetings, representatives from the Closed Nuclear Cities are further pursuing the development of commercial relationships with 10 UK companies.

Cost

The DTI funded the Roadshow for a total cost of £46,000.
