This project aimed to enable OOO Vermiculite at Zheleznogorsk to expand and modernise its production facility for thermal insulation products based on Vermiculite, and thereby to provide 25 new jobs for former weapons scientists currently employed by MCK.
The work programme consisted of five main elements:
- Purchase of equipment for, and the construction of, a production line for the manufacture of corrugated cardboard boxes, with a multi-colour printing capability.
- Recruitment and training of a team of up to 17 staff to operate this facility.
- Purchase of two compressors capable of supplying at least 10 m3/min of compressed air.
- Design and construction of a suitable building to house the compressor plant.
- Recruitment and training of a team of up to 6 staff to operate this facility, including training in the safety of high pressure equipment.
Outline Proposal was approved by the SG in the Quarter 2004.
A contract was prepared and signed at the end of FY04/05.
A final audit of the project proved that the Beneficiary's obligations for job creation were overfulfilled (37 jobs /25 for
ex-nuclear workers created vs 28 /25 planned initially).
The project is considered to have been completed successfully.
