Objectives

  • Identify technologies which various organisations within the Closed Nuclear Cities of Snezhinsk, Ozersk and Novouralsk have developed which might have commercial potential.
  • Evaluate the present level of development of the technologies and assess their commercial prospects.

Summary

Technology Audit in Seversk
The technology audit was held at Kyshtim in the Urals. During the meetings, thirty projects were reviewed. Of those, nineteen were given in-depth assessments by CNCP team members in terms of the projects' technology, marketability and commercial potential and 12 were viewed to have significant commercial potential. As of March 31, 2004, nine projects have received grants in Snezhinsk and Ozersk, including a project at the All Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Technical Physics in Snezhinsk to develop a hydroabrasive cutting equipment set for nuclear submarine decommissioning and expansion of the Energoprom plant in Ozersk.

Cost

The DTI funded the technology audit for a total cost of £2,530.
