Practical Outcomes of project "Organisation of Serial Production of Complicated Small-sized Parts"
The project was initiated in 2006 by Spektr-Konversia (Snezhinsk). The main activity of this
business is designing and producing metal components for a variety of different kinds of
equipment, and the production of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
The aim of the CNCP project was to establish a workshop for the production of complex
components, measuring from 2 to 50 mm. Such items are used in a wide range of applications –
from mountain rescue to medical equipment – and are in steady demand. The project has made it
possible to increase by 1.5 times the volume of production and sales, significantly
reducing unit costs. The overall cost of the project was in the region of £ 278,000, of
which £ 140,000 was provided by CNCP. Thirty-two new jobs were created for highly qualified
workers. Unfortunately, this project was one of the few which were seriously affected by the
crisis of 2008-2009. The original plan had foreseen the creation of 40 jobs. Following an
audit and a series of discussions, it was decided to crystalise the results achieved at that
point, and not to pay over the final retention, which was conditional on fulfillment of all of
the conditions of the contract.
