Summary

This project involves manufacture of new titanium prosthetic knee products by the Sarov company JSC 'Titan'. This company is a part of the VNIIEF Conversia and located at the Sarov techno-park. JSC 'Titan' specialises in development and production of Titanium component parts for modular orthopaedic appliances, including prosthetics. Titanium can be a suitable fabrication material and has the added advantage that it is rarely rejected when used in contact with human tissue. JSC 'Titan' has access to titanium, related fabrication expertise and orthopaedics production experience.

Cost

Total cost of the project is £110,000. The DECC is funding a contribution of £55,000.

Duration

6 months - starting May 2005.
