IS Sarov is a manufacturer of intraocular lenses for the Russian market. The management believed that it could expand production and take on additional labour from the MinAtom nuclear research facility in Snezhinsk with the help of a grant from CNCP. The Steering Group agreed in September 2003 to fund market research to explore the viability of the proposal. The Steering Group approved the first part of the business plan related to manufacture of rigid intraocular lenses in May 2004 (DECC contribution £ 101,000 out of a total project cost of £ 137,100). A contract was signed at the end of FY04/05.

Final audit showed that the Beneficiary had fulfilled all of its obligations in full. It over fulfilled (8 jobs /6 for former employees of VNIIEF created vs 8/5 planned initially) its obligation as concerns job creation

The project has been completed successfully.
