General Report on Training of Employees from Nuclear Centres in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the OU Programme and AFW CoursesFor all the years of collaboration about 50 employees from Nuclear Centres in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have been trained in the Kazakhstan Institute of Marketing and Management (KIMM). The following information shows the results of training by groups. The group (Presentation May 05E) ((Almaty) completed its training in April 2006. Six of 10 students completed the course successfully, 1 student was not admitted to the exam, since he did not attend the Residential school classes, 3 students retook the exam but failed. Starting from this year the Open University allows the third retake of the exam for those who failed the second attempt. Thus, the 3 students mentioned above have the third attempt. If they successfully pass, the result will amount to 90%. The group (Presentation May 05E) (Almaty) did the "Project Management" course. All 6 students completed the course successfully and received the Certificate of Academy AFW (Germany). The group (Presentation November 05K) (Kurchatov) completed the course 640 "Professional Manager". Only 2 of 11 students were not admitted to the exam, which means they have no chance to receive the Certificate. 7 of 11 students have an opportunity to retake the exam in April 2007. At the same time 6 of 7 students could not pass the exam from the first attempt, and 1 student asked to put off the exam making a reasonable excuse. Thus, the training results of the group are that all the students except two have a chance to receive the Certificate. The group (Presentation 05K) (Tashkent) did a course 640 "Professional Manager". Initially, 12 employees from the Institute were sent to have the training, but right after the first module 5 students refused from the course, and they were substituted with 5 new students. Three of these 5 students successfully completed the rest of the course, and 2 students were included in the new group (spring 2007) to continue their training. So, we have 7 students. Two of these 7 students were not admitted to the exam, 2 students successfully passed the exam, and 3 people will retake the exam in April 2007. Thus, the results of the study are the following. Seven of 17 students have no chance to receive the Certificate, 2 people have already received the Certificate, 3 people will retake the exam, and the rest 5 students will have to do certain modules additionally (2 students have been registered already for the spring 2007 course). The group (Presenation May 06E) (Almaty) is completing the course 640 "Professional Manager" and preparing to take exam at the end of April. All 6 students have admission to the exam. It was the first time when all students in the group were admitted to the exam. The group (Presentation May 06E) (Almaty) is completing the "Project Management" course. All students participated in the Professional seminar, which is a compulsory part of the training. Now they have to fulfill the remaining assignments to receive admission to the exam. All the students have a chance to be admitted to the exam. The group (Presentation November 06K) (Kurchatov) will complete the course "Professional Manager" in October 2007. Initially, the group consisted of 17 students but 2 of them refused from doing the course almost from the start of the training, and 4 other students did it in half a year. New 4 students were included in the group for the rest half a year instead of the 4 who refused from the course. They are included in the Presentation Spring 2007, which will start from May 2007. The remaining 12 students successfully fulfilled the first TMA. So, we can conclude that all students of the group (taking into account new ones) have a chance to complete the training successfully. The group (Presentation November 06K) (Almaty) will complete the course 640 "Professional Manager" in October 2007. All 8 students successfully did the first part of the course. If the students keep on like this, they will have a good chance to pass the exam in October 2007. So, this group shows good training results so far. Summing up the results of the 8 groups, we can outline the following tendency. The employees of Nuclear centres have started to take the training more seriously. For example, without taking into account the substitution of students, just in the groups May 05E and November 05K there are students who have no chance to retake the exam, and the only opportunity for them is to do the course again. Senior management has also changed its attitude to training of its employees. For instance, senior management of INP has got interested in the training process and started to offer incentives for them to study. Last week a Professional seminar under the "Project Management" course took place. Despite pressure of work all 4 students participated in it. Tomorrow all 8 students from Kurchatov are coming to attend a Residential school under the course 700. This also indicates a change in the attitude to the training. Also, we should mention that the new group for spring 07E is expected to be successful. Three of 25 students will do the training instead of those who quitted. The course for them has already been paid for. Seven of 23 remaining students have already had training, so they have an experience in training of the Open University. ConclusionEmployees of the nuclear centres in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have positively changed their attitude to the training, which is proved by the fact that all 23 new students agreed to give the amount indicated above onto the deposit account. Senior management of the nuclear centres in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have became more responsible to the training of their staff. In particular, they put pressure on those employees who take training carelessly. Руководство ядерных центров Казахстана и Узбекистана стали более ответственно относиться к обучению своих сотрудников. В частности, они оказывают давление на тех сотрудников, кто халатно относится к обучению. RecommendationsUsing the analysis of the training results above, we can give the following recommendations:
