The Business English and Contract Negotiations annual courses in the De Monfort University (Leicester, Great Britain)
One of elements of any research is exchanging scientific information, presentation of obtained results at conferences and symposia. Therefore, speaking a foreign language is an integral part of being a scientist. Now practically in all institutes carry out activities for commercialization of R&D results, the main part of the commercialization activity is focused at search for foreign investors, partners and grants. English is the main language of scientific communication. Since 2004 the CNCP programme organizes the Business English and Contract Negotiations annual courses in the De Monfort University. Representatives from nuclear centres and enterprises of Russia and countries of former Soviet Union take part in training. De Montfort University is a large educational establishment, with almost 23,000 students. It is located in the very centre of England, 5 minutes walking distance from Leicester city centre. The University consists of 5 faculties, offering over 400 educational programmes, including art and design, business and legislature, computing and engineering science, health and life, and humanitarian disciplines. The main topics of the course are negotiations, business communication, innovation activity, business, corporate culture, formal business English, writing reports and proposals, preparation of presentations, marketing, brand managements and issues related to intellectual property. Audio records are used efficiently for the development of listening skills. The structure of the Course includes classes in the university, homework, and language practice. All participants of courses note high professionalism of the teachers, precisely planned employment of students. Participants have
better understanding rules and ethics of international business. Also the participants have expanded their comprehension of innovation and
introduction of new technologies to the market. The acquired experience allows an easier contact with foreign partners due to a much better
knowledge of English.
