Official visit of CNCP delegation to Yerevan in December 2007
From 19 - 20 December an official visit to Yerevan (Armenia) was organized for representatives of the CNCP Programme.
During the visit the CNCP experts visited the Yerevan Institute of Physics and the Armenian Scientific Research Institute on operating nuclear power plants of ARMATOM Ltd. These organizations have been involved in CNCP activity since 2007. Outline Proposals have already been approved for grant funding by the Programme Steering Group.
During the visit, the participants discussed marketing research and business planning on the following projects:
Precision microprocessing using copper vapour lasers (Yerevan Institute of Physics);
Establishment of an enterprise for the design, production and maintenance of lab furnaces (Yerevan Institute of Physics);
Development of a computer simulator for maintenance of NPP equipment (ARMATOM).
The following new proposals, were also discussed:
Production of Tc-99m and I-123 isotopes for medical purposes;
Development of a precise detector for medical diagnostics of heterogeneities (Yerevan Institute of Physics);
Application of zeolite for absorbing radioactive materials (Yerevan Institute of Physics);
Establishment of a service centre for controlling the safety of pressurised gas vessels (Yerevan Institute of Physics);
Use of a new mathematical tool for the control and prediction of changes in biological materials (Yerevan Institute of Physics);
Establishment of a universal multichannel seismic station for assessing the damage potential of earthquakes (ARMATOM).
