CNCP official delegation visited KIPT (Ukraine) on 22-24 May 2007.

During its stay the delegation visited the locations of the following three projects:

  • Ozone-based automobile tyres recycling technology.
  • Manufacture of thin vacuum-tight beryllium foils.
  • Technology development and manufacture of medical stents based on ultra-fine-grain magnesium alloys.

The delegates discussed the status of the market research and the business planning conducted for the following projects: Establishment of X-ray and gamma-irradiation detectors manufacture based on semi-conductor connections CdTe (CdZnTe) and Manufacture of multi-functional low-temperature plasma sterilizers with ultra-sound cavitation. An analysis was made to determine whether the project on Development of Commercialisation Unit of KIPT is ready for implementation.

Proposals for the new projects were also reviewed, and a decision was made to submit four projects to the CNCP Steering Committee for consideration in July 2007, including:

  • Establishment of decontaminating detergent production.
  • Clean radiation sources.
  • Manufacture of industrial prototype for energy-saving vacuum equipment for drying disperse materials.
  • Creation of zirconium production in Ukraine.

One day of the trip was devoted to a workshop on Commercialisation of R&D. CNCP experts Mark Allington and Christophe Trontin made presentations on intellectual capital and new product development; practical issues of intellectual property use, and the Commercialisation of innovative technologies.
