CNCP meeting in Almaty from 4th to 7th of June 2007
From 4th to 7th of June 2007 the CNCP delegation participated in the 6th annual conference
"Nuclear and Radiation Physics - 2007" which took place in the Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP),
Republic of Kazakhstan, Almaty. The conference marked the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of
the INP.
CNCP Programme Leader Patrick Gray made a presentation on the activities of the Programme in the
session "International Projects". CNCP expert in the area of nuclear and radiation technologies,
Johnathan Perks, presented a review of activities in Great Britain in this area. He also told about
the assistance provided by the CNCP to INP in the preparation of a big national project relating to
setting up a Centre of Nuclear Medicine outside Almaty.
While participating in the conference the CNCP experts had a number of parallel meetings with the
specialists from INP on current projects. They also heard new proposals, some of which will be
considered at the Steering Committee meeting on 6 July 2007 in London.
