Visit of CNCP specialists to Kiev and Kharkov, 7-9 December 2010
Monitoring of CNCP projects being implemented in the Kiev Institute of Nuclear Research and the
Kharkov Institute of Physics and Technology. Projects in these institutes support the
commercialisation of high technology innovations. For example, in Kiev projects involve the
production of technetium generators, stationary and mobile, and micro strip detectors. Discussions
are already underway with potential British partners for the micro strip project. The Kharkov
Institute is also hosting a number of innovation-based CNCP projects.

At its meeting on 3 December 2010, the Steering Group approved a second group of Legacy Projects.

Visit of CNCP representatives to Seversk, November 2010
On 23-24 November 2010 a visit to Seversk was organized for representatives of CNCP. The delegation included a representative of
the UK Department of Energy and Clime Change (DECC) David Rendall Tomas and CNCP experts headed by the Programme Leader Patrick Gray.
During the visit a meeting was held with the Mayor and Head of Seversk Administration, at which the prospect of CNCP development in
Seversk was discussed. The CNCP delegation visited buildings and sites where the projects funded by the Programme are being
implemented, met representatives of SCK to discuss joint projects. Also, a meeting was arranged with city enterprises which
submitted project proposals for CNCP funding.

Team of CNCP specialists with specialists
from the Kazakhstan National Innovation Fund to develop a «Strategy for the Commercialisation of
Technology in Kazakhstan», 8-22 November 2010
Team of CNCP specialists works in Astana with specialists from the Kazakhstan National Innovation
Fund to develop a «Strategy for the Commercialisation of Technology in Kazakhstan». The draft
Strategy is presented to the Minister of Industry and New Technologies and his team in a meeting at
the end of the visit. The Strategy is intended to provide the basis for a National Programme for
Technology Commercialisation for the period to 2020.
Study tour "Development of local economies
faced with substantial restructuring", 31 October - 7 November 2010
The main objective of the tour was development of activity directions and solution of issued discussed during the VIII CNCP
Conference in Vyborg - keeping main CNCP functions after 2012 and opportunities for funding these initiatives. In the course of the
tour there were studied examples of how a relatively isolated region of England - Western Cumbria - started implementation of the
long-term programme of its economic regeneration, diversification of the local economy and reduction of its dependency on
Sellafield - the largest enterprise handling spent nuclear fuel. The participants of the tour visited the Yorkshire site of the
Welding Institute (TWI), Research Centre of Advanced Nuclear technologies, Industrial Site of Sellafield, National Nuclear
Laboratory (Sellafield), Science and Technology Park Westlakes and Land Rover plant in Solihull.

Study tour "Radiation medical technologies of the United Kingdom", October 2010
From 25 to 29 October a study tour "Radiation medical technologies of the United Kingdom" was arranged by CNCP for representatives
of the nuclear industry of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. The tour programme included a visit to the Harwell nuclear
site, where over 4,500 people are employed in 80 commercial structures. Among them is Isotron Ltd., the main supplier of commercial
services in radiation treatment (medical sterilization) in Europe. Also, the participants visited the Churchill Hospital in Oxford,
Centre for Diagnostics and Treatment of Cancer, Centre of Nuclear Medicine and National Physical Laboratory.
Seminar "Experience and Prospects of Inward Investment Attraction to Closed
Cities", Krasnoyarsk, Zheleznogorsk, 19-20 October 2010
On 19-20 October in Krasnoyarsk and Zheleznogorsk a Seminar on experience
and prospects of inward investment attraction to closed cities was held with
support of CNCP Programme. The seminar was attended by heads of Rosatom
closed cities, representatives of Rosatom Corporation and Chair of
Association of Closed Cities of Atomic Industry, nuclear industry
specialists and CNCP experts.

Seminar "Opportunities for commercialization in health care technologies",
Tbilisi, Georgia, 11-14 October 2010
On 11 October in Tbilisi (Georgia) the CNCP Programme in association with the Andronikashvili Institute of Physics and Sukhumi
Institute of Physics and Technologies arranged a seminar for employees of commercialisation centres created with CNCP support, and on
12-14 October they organized a seminar dedicated to commercial application of diagnostics equipment and medical technologies. A
special attention was paid to commercialization in nuclear medicine. The participants were given presentations by invited speakers
from the UK and Germany. Specialists from Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Ukraine shared their experience in
implementation of CNCP projects related to biological and medical technologies. On 14 October there was held a seminar on "Marketing
and sales of medical products. Experience of CNCP".

Meetings between the leaders of
innovatory projects and a specialist from the British company Qi3, Moscow, 28-29 September 2010
Meetings organised in CNCP Headquarters in Moscow between the leaders of ten innovatory projects
and a specialist from the British company Qi3 working under contract with HTSPE. Qi3 specialises in
the commercialisation of high-technology scientific inventions. The aim of the meetings was to
identify commercial opportunities for the projects concerned in international markets.

Representatives of CNCP participate in international conference on «Innovation Technologies.
Realities and Prospects», organised by the Park of Nuclear Technologies (PNT) in Kurchatov,
Kazakhstan. The Programme’s representatives participate in the full sessions and the working groups,
presenting international experience on the development of science parks. Working meetings also held
with CNCP projects in Kurchatov.
VI CNCP-NIS Annual Conference - "CNCP 2012: from grants
to new opportunities", Minsk, Belarus, September 2010
On 7-9 September in Minsk there was held the VI CNCP-NIS Annual Conference attended by specialists of the nuclear industry of
Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. The results of 2009-10 FY were reviewed and the changes in the
International Scientific and Technological Centre and their impact on CNCP projects were considered. The participants discussed such
topics as: "Institutes in the market - key factors of success", "Commercialisation units - why?", "Infrastructure support of
innovation business", "Difficulties in use of scientific developments in business" and "Special features of radiation treatment
market". In the framework of the Conference the round table talks were held on "CNCP 2012 - new opportunities".

Visit of CNCP Programme representatives to Zheleznogorsk, 25-26 August 2010
CNCP delegation monitors progress of projects in Zheleznogorsk. Meetings held with the leaders
of the City Adminstration. Six projects are being implemented in Zheleznogorsk and eight have already been completed.
CNCP delegation visits Snezhinsk and Ozersk, 3-6 August 2010
Elina Vdovieva appointed Director of the Ozersk Business Development Agency at meeting of
the Board of the Agency, which was set up with support from CNCP as a centre for business
development in the City and which, since opening in 2008, has acted as Coordinator for the Programme
in the City.
The Canadian Government
has provided a financial contribution of 1.5 million Canadian Dollars, July 2010
In July 2010, the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and the Canadian Department
of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to
cooperate in scientist redirection and engagement through the UK's CNCP programme. The Canadian
Government has provided a financial contribution of 1.5 million Canadian Dollars for this
collaboration, and has already approved funding for a number of grant projects in Russia and other
countries of the Former Soviet Union. These projects are being implemented in Seversk,
Zheleznogorsk, Minsk, Almaty and Kurchatov.

The 8th CNCP-Russia Conference, Vyborg, 5-7 July 2010
The annual CNCP-Russia Conference on the Programme's 2009/2010 financial year was held in Vyborg from 5-7 July. William Elliott, British Consul-General in Saint Petersburg, representatives
of UK DECC, Tomsk region, city administrations and companies from six
Rosatom Closed Cities, as well as British specialists and the CNCP
Management Team took part in the event.
The conference had the discussion session on CNCP experience and
implementation of efficient regional innovation business support programmes.

Study tour to the UK, May 23-30, 2010
On 23-30 May 2010 a study tour to the UK was organized for the representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine
and Uzbekistan. The aims - enabling senior managers and specialists from nuclear research centres, ministries and academies of
science, to learn from the British experience of commercialisation leading to the formation of new businesses.

Visit of CNCP specialists to Almaty and Tashkent, 13–14 April and 4–6 May 2010
CNCP’s collaboration with the Almaty and Tashkent Institutes of Nuclear Physics has developed to include a very wide range of
opportunities offered by the Programme. The various joint projects and initiatives, together with the prospects for 2010-2012, were
discussed during CNCP visits to the two Institutes in April and May.
Open University LINK residential school, Gudauri (Georgia), 26-28 February 2010
Open University LINK residential school for groups of staff members from the Sukhumi Institute of Physics and Technology and the
Institute of Physics (Tbilisi) held for the first time in Gudauri (Georgia). The training on Open University LINK Business School
programme was initiated and is financed by CNCP to support the commercialisation process in institutes which are involved in the
CNCP programme. Residential schools are a compulsory element of the education and help participants implement in practice what they
learn through the theoretical assignments.
Visit of CNCP Programme representatives to Novouralsk, 25 February 2010
First official visit by a CNCP delegation to the Closed City of Novouralsk: Programme representatives meet the head of the
Municipal Administration and visit companies implementing CNCP projects.

Visit of CNCP representatives to Minsk, Feburary 2010
On 9-10 Feburary CNCP delegation visited Joint Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research (JIENR) - Sosny in Minsk, Belarus.
During their visit the CNCP representatives discussed the preparation of contracts with ISTC required for the implementation of CNCP
projects such as "System for the determination of nitrosamines", "Establishment of a centre for water treatment and analyses" and
"Increase in the safety of sealed sources with Cesium -137 by their additional encapsulation".

CNCP representatives visited Armenia and Georgia, January 2010
On 18-22 January CNCP representatives visited Armenia and Georgia. They discussed preparatory activity for the implementation of
projects and new funding proposals.
Workshop " Cutting dies market for packaging materials" was held in the framework of the market research funded by CNCP. The workshop
was organized by Rastr-technology.
