Interview with Umar Salikhbayev, Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics

Commercialisation unit in the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Republic of Uzbekistan

With its team of highly qualified specialists, the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Republic of Uzbekistan has carried out a large number of research projects, including projects in the area of applied research. However, few of these actually led to practical results. A particular reason for this lay in the previous state order system, under which specialists in the Institute carried out the scientific and technical part of projects, while any further development was in the hands of other government structures.

Last summer, the CNCP Steering Committee agreed to fund a project involving the establishment of a unit for the commercialisation of the results of scientific and technical research. The activities of the Unit would be focused on priority commercially promising technologies. Initiatives would involve INP specialists in developing products and services, which should eventually lead to commercially successful business projects.

The Commercialisation Unit has already begun work, taking part in the organisation of exhibitions of scientific and technical research results achieved in Uzbekistan and in carrying out market research for four new INP projects being implemented in the framework of CNCP.
